| Posted: 20 Dec 2013 10:30 AM PST  Since 2010, Masacre en Xoco has been Cineteca Nacional's annual showing of both classic and contemporary horror cinema on 35mm (or 16mm). As we all know, digital projection has replaced celluloid and at Mexico's Cinematheque things are no different. Hence Masacre en Xoco has become the one and only opportunity for horror aficionados in Mexico City to revive or experience for the first time what is like to watch films like The Evil Dead on its original 35mm format. For the fourth edition, kicking off next week (12/26), curators Mauricio Matamoros Durán and José Luis Ortega put together another magnificent selection, which include classics like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the Mexico City premiere of Here Comes the Devil. Being a very innovative director, Kurosawa stunned the world many times with his genre-bending creations and quickly became a pioneer of Japanese film industry. | Exciting First Teaser For Live-Action RUROUNI KENSHIN Sequels Arrives! Posted: 20 Dec 2013 08:00 AM PST  Rurouni Kenshin, one of the most popular anime and manga series ever, was adapted into a live action feature film last year. With the success of the film, both critically and commercially, two sequels went into production this year. The new films cover the fan-favorite Kyoto arc of the manga, specifically the Great Kyoto Fire and End of a Legend storylines. Satoh Takeru (Kamen Rider Den-O, Beck) will reprise his role as Kenshin, while Fujiwara Tatsuya (Death Note, Battle Royale) will play Shishio Makoto. | Giant Robot Comes To Life In First Live-Action PATLABOR Teaser! Posted: 20 Dec 2013 07:30 AM PST  One of the biggest anime-related news in 2013 was the announcement of the live-action Patlabor project, which will consist of a 7-part television series in 2014 and a feature film in 2015, with original creator Oshii Mamoru directing the feature film as well as some of the series' episodes. Long been a favorite amongst anime fans, the project is eagerly anticipated by a lot of people.It has previously been announced that the new project will not be a remake of earlier stories, but will be telling the story of the next generation of Patlabors. Past romance, part Agatha Christie-style mystery, Anderson has gathered some of his usual troupe (Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson) and added in some brilliant ones (F. Murray Abraham, Saoirse Ronan, Léa Seydoux, Mathieu Amalric).
