From The, 'Huh? Really?' File: Nicolas Winding Refn In Negotiations For THE EQUALIZER Posted: 07 Dec 2012 01:29 PM PST Clearly Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn has been keeping a clone of himself stashed in the closet. It's the only way to explain his manic work schedule. Currently wrapping up bits and bobs on his post-Drive effort Only God Forgives, Refn is already attached to a long gestating reboot of Logan's Run, sex thriller I Walk With The Dead, a television reboot of Barbarella, and a pair of untitled projects - one a thriller, one a comedy - as a director. Plus he's involved in a few more - a remake of Maniac Cop, for one - as a producer. You'd think his schedule would be full. But no.You can add one more to the mix, Deadline reporting that Refn is entering negotiations to direct... |

Appearances Are Everything in New AMERICAN MARY Trailer Posted: 07 Dec 2012 09:34 AM PST Jen and Sylvia Soska's American Mary was one of the more exciting discoveries of 2012, throwing a sexy spotlight on the otherwise shady world of body modification and backstreet surgeries. Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps) is fantastic as the titular medical student, forced into moonlighting due to mounting college debts, only to discover that her new identity as a corsetted, scalpel-wielding fixer is infinitely more gratifying and titillating than coping with her sleazy professors. The film, and its rampaging twin sister directors, took FrightFest by storm earlier this year, before doing the same in Austin, TX at Fantastic Fest and embarking on a globe-trotting festival tour that saw the film rake in the awards. American Mary will enjoy a limited theatrical release in the UK on... |
Review: TCHOUPITOULAS Offers A Tour of New Orleans Through Innocent Eyes Posted: 07 Dec 2012 06:00 AM PST Want to knock a decade (or three) off your life? For 80 minutes at least, experiencing New Orleans through the lens of the Ross Brothers' camera in Tchoupitoulas, with the guidance and vitality of the film's three youthful leads, will do just that. Theirs is a fly-on-the-wall documentary that chronicles 9-year-old William along with his slightly older brothers, Bryan and Kentrell (as well as their cute and well behaved little pitbull named Buttercup), as they set off one evening from their impoverished home in Algiers to cross the Mississippi into the French Quarter. Their evening of taking in the sights and sounds of the city of sin (while looking for pizza) becomes an all night odyssey as they miss the last ferry home. Peaks behind the... |
