REVIEW: Mile High Club Membership Soars In Pedro Almodóvar's I'M SO EXCITED!

It's a bit of a shame that the U.S. release of Pedro Almodóvar's latest (Called Les Amantes Pasajeros in Spanish) is titled I'm So Excited!, and that it will presumably use the moment where the flight attendants break into a raucous rendition of the Pointer Sisters hit as a key marketing point. Not that I blame them -- the song-and-dance is the film's high point, and easily its most unhinged and memorable scene -- but in a movie with few other surprises, the whole could have benefited greatly from such a burst of energy coming out of nowhere. Not to say the rest of the film, a slight, stylish sit-com-melodrama at 35,000 feet, is bad. It's agreeable, breezy and often quite funny, but those hoping...

Only China will see Fan Bing Bing in IRON MAN 3

Deadline has confirmed that top Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing's appearance in this summer's Marvel blockbuster Iron Man 3 will be limited to a single scene only included in the Chinese cut of the film. There has been a lingering reluctance to confirm Fan's role in the film. She appeared at the inaugural press conference in Beijing last year, only to scarcely have been mentioned ever since. Last month, however, the Asian beauty could be clearly seen in a shot from the Chinese version of the trailer (a shot notably absent from the US version).The reasons for Fan's absence from the international cut of the film remain unclear, but will likely come as a blow to Fan, who has expressed her desire to break into Hollywood....

Boston Underground Film Fest Continues Through This Weekend with an Impressive Lineup

The Boston Underground Film Festival may not be the most well-known festival on the circuit, but the good people at the fest have been hard at working programming an all-around exceptional lineup for their 15th iteration. Taking place at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge, Mass's Harvard Square, BUFF has 16 features, each notable, most with a short or two playing before. There are also the typical film fest shorts programs as well as some fun events like their Karaoke Bacchanalia and Saturday Morning Cartoons and Cereal thrown in. Sounds like a blast. The fest has been running since Wednesday when it kicked off with Jason Lapeyre and Robert Wilson's pint-sized actioner I Declare War (See Kurt's TIFF review).
