The team has recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to pull together the remaining funds necessary to complete their location shoot in, among other places, Utah's stunning salt flats. Directed by Fabian Huebner, who made the Uwe Boll documentary Visiting Uwe, produced by Catherine Morawitz and lensed by Jon Britt - who together brought us the exceptional giallo short Yellow back in 2012, Fonotune is a beautiful hybrid of Japanese punk music, European electro, and an American independent spirit, which looks to be coming together fantastically.Veteran Japanese rock n' roll legend Guitar Wolf Seiji has recently joined the cast, which already includes Visitor Q star Watanabe Kazushi, Yamashita...

TRUE DETECTIVE: Season 2 Will Have Three Leads And A New Setting

Posted: 27 May 2014 09:00 PM PDT

Despite the unfounded rumor the other week that Jessica Chastain was the first lead cast in season two of HBO's True Detective -- a rumor that Chastain herself denied -- we relish any new details about the next season. What has been confirmed is that there will be three lead characters this time around and the setting will be somewhere in California. Show creator Nic Pizzolatto told an NPR show,"We're working with three leads. It takes place in California -- not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California -- and we're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one." He added, "The characters are all new, but I'm deeply in love with...

Udine 2014 Review: BILOCATION, A Surprisingly Intriguing But Messy Psycho-Thriller

Posted: 27 May 2014 02:00 PM PDT

Even though it has most of the ingredients of a typical J-horror, Bilocation spices up a slightly worn-out formula with material that would otherwise be reserved for other genres, and instead of relying on overused plot devices, controls the narrative with thought-provoking ruminations on the nature of identity. Undeniably intensified by a few conventional tricks, the shock factor hides in the film's convoluted storyline and moral ambivalence rather than in its calculable scares.Japanese horror films have always loved to play with ancient legends and urban myths, most of which obviously have to do with ghosts, but recent attempts at revamping the genre proved to be mildly successful at best. Fortunately, Asato Mari seems to be perfectly aware of the fact that such concepts don't attract much attention...
