Disaster Strikes Beneath The Surface In Russia's METRO

Posted: 10 Dec 2012 02:00 PM PST

Subway trains and water. It's a bad combination played for maximum dramatic effect in upcoming Russian disaster film Metro. The premise is simple and effectively disturbing for anyone who has ever ridden a train below ground: In the middle of rush hour, with the trains packed to capacity, the walls separating the train system from the river water above give way and all hell breaks loose. This is chaos on a grand scale and while we've run an early teaser for the film before the full trailer showcases a good amount of brand new - and very effective - footage. Check it out below....

Fresh Art And Plot Details For Isaac Florentine's NINJA 2

Posted: 10 Dec 2012 11:30 AM PST

Principal photography hasn't begun yet for Isaac Florentine's martial arts flick Ninja 2 but that hasn't stopped Nu Image/Millennium Films from whipping up a poster art.  While the artwork is nothing more than a rehash of material from the first installment, the tagline makes it pretty clear where the story is heading - the revenge-plot direction.  Scott Adkins reprise the role of the American ninja Casey Bowman, along with Mika Hijii as Namiko.  The antagonist roles include Kane Kosugi as Nakabara and Shun Sugata as Goro. Here's how the official synopsis describes it (spoiler alert):Fight everyone and trust no one: it's the code of survival practiced by martial-arts master Casey Bowman after his life of domestic bliss is shattered by a savage act of violence....

Watch The Trailer For Chris Mars' Grotesque Animated Short IN HANFORD

Posted: 10 Dec 2012 10:00 AM PST

The beauty of animation lies in its versatility. If your subject matter calls for light and pretty visuals, you can do that. If, however, you're tackling something a little more unsettling it is more than capable of that as well. And such is very much the case for Chris Mars' Sundance selected short In Hanford, an animated effort that tackles the issue of nuclear waste in a graphic and unsettling form. Watch a trailer below for a taste....

Like Father, Like Son. Will And Jaden Smith Carry The First Trailer For Shyamalan's AFTER EARTH

Posted: 10 Dec 2012 09:30 AM PST

It's a father-son tag team with Will and Jaden Smith taking the leads in M Night Shyamalan's upcoming scifi adventure After Earth. Shyamalan, at this point, has long since burned through any residual goodwill left over from The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable while the Smith clan does not engender widespread confidence - for the record, I thought Jaden was perfectly fine in The Karate Kid - but with the first proper trailer releasing in France we now get our chance to judge footage from the actual film rather than the people making it.In After Earth, one thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind's new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (played by Will Smith) returns from an extended...

James Franco Visits INTERIOR. LEATHER BAR. See The First Stills.

Posted: 10 Dec 2012 09:00 AM PST

If there is a Hollywood figure who maintains a sharper divide between what he does for money and what he does for love than James Franco it's very hard to say who it might be. While Franco clearly embraces projects that embody both poles as often as possible he also remains the same guy who took on a role in a daytime soap to pay his way through college while directing his own odd little indies on the side of a career that has now expanded to lead roles in massive Hollywood blockbusters. And the divide has never been sharper than this coming year, in which Franco will be on multiplex screens as the lead in Sam Raimi's Oz The Great And Powerful while also...

Review: MISFITS S4E07 (Or, Alex Searches For His Lost Appendage And Abbey Gets An Unexpected Surprise)

Posted: 10 Dec 2012 07:30 AM PST

Misfits aims to explore modern gender roles with this week's episode but it's hard to say that it succeeds in everything that it sets out to do. The already obvious themes in Alex's storyline are made clearer here, yet there's nothing particularly engaging going on. He's a man on a search for his missing penis, and without it he feels like less of a man. The show arguably hasn't done enough to give Alex any more of a personality or define him in any way. The story of the newest character, Abbey, is one that allows her to remains mysterious but is also very interesting. In a plot that immediately reminded me of "Expecting" from the first season of Angel, Abbey is suddenly made heavily pregnant...

The Remnants Of Humanity Fight For Survival In Danish SciFi EXODUS

Posted: 10 Dec 2012 06:00 AM PST

Though it would have been inconceivable to suggest even five years ago the Nordic countries now appear to be embracing bold, high concept science fiction in a way they never have before. And a project very much worth keeping an eye on is director Tommy Ipsen's Exodus. Produced by Richard Georg Engström with support from the Danish Film Institute Exodus is a proposed sci-fi fantasy project for multi media platforms (film, tv series, games, novels) currently wrapping a feature film pilot to present at the Berlin Film Festival 2013 starring Thomas Chaanhing, Cyron Melville (A Royal Affair, The Killing), Brigitte Nielsen (yes, the former Mrs Stallone), Matias Varela (Snabba Cash / Easy Money) and Kristofer Hivju who starred in the remake of The Thing and...
