With just a few days to go until the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival gets underway, Twitch continues to highlight some of the cinematic treats scheduled to delight South Korean audiences from 18-28 July. Today we are shining our spotlight on the vast selection on offer in the World Fantastic Cinema programme - 42 of the very best new genre offerings from around the globe, including horror, sci-fi, fantasy, thriller and everything in between. Kickstart This! Jeremy Lin Needs To Finish His SENIOR PROJECT!

When the Hong Kong media started reporting about an upcoming film called Senior Project, it immediately grabbed my attention because the screenwriter was 'Jeremy Lin'. As it turned out, this Jeremy is not the same guy as the NBA player and star of the documentary Linsanity. Instead, he is a 16-year old student from Hong Kong who wrote a script based on his school experiences. The script, described as Superbad meets The Breakfast Club, was quickly picked up by Hollywood and will now be turned into a feature film. He was referring to the victory of Grown Ups 2 (and Despicable Me 2) over Pacific Rim at the U.S. box office this weekend, but the sentiment applies with equal force to the coincidental opening of indie drama Fruitvale Station and the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial in Florida. If you live in Australia and love Asian cinema, you will probably be very excited about the lineup of Hong Kong films that will be brought to our screens by Magnum Films in the second half of 2013. These include a sex comedy, two omnibus horror films and two action thrillers from a group of well-known filmmakers including Pang Ho Cheung (Love In A Puff, Vulgaria), Fruit Chan (Made In Hong Kong, Three...
