The famous Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary hosted for the 49th time, the well known international film festival, which caters especially to Central and Eastern European cinema. But that's not all, as the fest hosts plenty of world and international premieres, film sales (animated film on depression Rock in My Pockets and black Polish comedy Kebab&Horoscope were bought by New Europe Film Sales just before the beginning of the festival), projects in development looking for funding, and a little space reserved for good old Hollywood glitz with Mel Gibson receiving a Crystal Globe for his outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema (Mad Max was screened in the Outdoor Cinema to honour the occasion).
