After a successful premiere at the Singapore International Film Festival - read Stefan Shih's review of the film from that screening here - director James Lee's new action comedy The Collector hits Malaysian screens on December 20th and a new trailer has arrived.Veteran Singapore based stunt man and actor - and highly skilled martial artist - Sunny Pang take the lead as the titular collector, really just a blue collar guy trying to make a living by collecting debts when his conscience gets the better of him and things get very complicated, very fast. Blending realistic martial arts with localized slapstick comedy The Collector probably won't be for all tastes but it's a nice little shot of adrenaline from a director still best known internationally...

Austrian director Marvin Kren caused quite a stir amongst genre fans around the globe with his 2010 effort Rammbock: Berlin Undead. Despite clocking in right around the one hour mark - a run time that is, generally speaking, death for both festival programming and commercial distribution - Rammbock found a loyal following on the festival circuit and became a hit on VOD and DVD. And Kren is a huge part of why, the director showing an uncommon knack for blending kinetic action with compelling horror. And so fans have been waiting for what he may do next. And the answer to that question is upcoming creature feature Glazius (English title to be confirmed), a film shot in the mountains of his native Austria.Janek is a technician...

Horrible Title, Funny Trailer. FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS' Bret McKenzie Stars In TWO LITTLE BOYS.

Here's a key problem with Robert Sarkies' black comedy Two Little Boys: Based on title alone it comes across as something most likely to appeal to either the Disney set or pedophiles. Or both. It is not. Recently nominated for a whopping eleven New Zealand Film Awards, the film stars Bret McKenzie (Flight Of The Conchords) and Hamish Blake (Hamish And Andy) in an adaptation of a novel written by the director's brother, Duncan. And given the presence of McKenzie and Blake it comes as no surprise that things are both funnier and darker than the title implies.Set in Invercargill, New Zealand in the early 1990's, the film follows Nige and his best mate Deano's riotous misadventures as they struggle with their imploding long-term friendship which...

Scale The Slopes Of WHATEVEREST

Is Kristoffer Borgli's Whateverest an affectionate look at a very odd character or a tongue in cheek jab at hipster chic? Both seem equally likely based on the teaser for his short documentary.WHATEVEREST is a documentary about the unlikely inspiration behind a dance tune produced by Todd Terje called "Inspector Norse". "Inspector Norse" is the internet alias of Marius Solem Johansen, a failed musician living in a small town, producing dance videos and drug recipes for YouTube. Also noteworthy: This film was produced by someone who refers to themself as Bacon. Joe Lonie Wants You To HONK IF YOU'RE HORNY

Posted: 24 Nov 2012 06:00 AM PST

No doubt about it, New Zealand director Joe Lonie has a way with titles. The commercial and music video director has made a splash on the festival circuit this year with his short comedy Honk If You're Horny and if that doesn't catch your attention then you clearly are not and possibly never have been. On a rainy night in Auckland city, an enigmatic young musician gets into a cheap, low-rent taxicab. The crusty old cabbie takes one look at this slick young man with his guitar case and chooses to think of him as an oversexed, rock and roll party animal.Trying to impress his passenger, the cabbie launches into a graphic recounting of a sexual misadventure he participated in "just the other night". While...
