Posted: 13 Dec 2013 02:00 PM PST Just last week I had the chance to visit the set of He Never Died, the Jason Krawczyk directed indie with punk rock icon Henry Rollins in the lead role. I had the chance to sit and chat with Rollins a bit and while we'll be waiting for the film to turn up on the festival circuit to share that conversation the first official still from the film has now been released along with word that principal photography has wrapped. They shot this bit the day before I was there and the blood stains were still plainly visible on the floor. Producers Adam J. Sony Pictures, the studio that owns the movie rights to Marvel's The Amazing Spider-Man, has decided to expand its comic book universe over several films and has tapped several familiar names to do so. The goal is "to develop a continuous tone and thread throughout the films." The first two projects named are Venom and The Sinister Six. All the major Hollywood studios are reliant upon franchises nowadays, spending hundreds of millions of dollars in search of a return of even more hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office and through merchandising. THE VATICAN: Ridley Scott Rejected Posted: 13 Dec 2013 06:00 AM PST First, ciritcs and audiences fled in horror from the genius of The Counselor, and now premium cable network Showtime has rejected Ridley Scott too, declining to move forward after seeing the pilot episode that he directed for the dramatic series The Vatican. The series was intended to be "a provocative contemporary genre thriller about spirituality, power and politics set against the modern-day political machinations within the Catholic church." Paul Attanasio (Donnie Brasco, Homicide: Life on the Street) wrote the first episode, with Kyle Chandler (TV's Friday Night Lights, Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street) in the lead role as a progressive New York Cardinal, Anna Friel as his "very secular" sister, and Bruno Ganz as the Pope.
