Watch The Stellar First Trailer For Juno Mak's RIGOR MORTIS

Posted: 28 Jun 2013 11:30 AM PDT

Juno Mak is bringing back the hopping vampire and - with the help of The Grudge director Shimizu Takashi - he's taking them in a dark and thoroughly compelling direction. It was back in June that our own James Marsh visited the set of the film and brought word of the dark tone that Mak is bringing to his effort, the film populated by seasoned veterans of the original classics such as Chin Siu Ho and Kara Hui. With the film now wrapped up the first trailer has arrived and it delivers on the promise of those early reports. In this eerie and chilling, contemporary, action/special effects laden homage to the classic Chinese vampire movies of the 1980's, writer-director-producer, Juno Mak makes his feature directorial debut. Review: Cesar Apolinario And Marnie Manicad's DANCE OF THE STEELBARS Is A Melodramatic Mess That Completely Misses The Point

Posted: 28 Jun 2013 06:00 AM PDT

After a rap-fuelled montage of various shots of Cebu City's bustling streetscapes, the gravelly voice of Patrick Bergin introduces the provincial jail of Cebu as some sort of hell on Earth. The images that accompany Bergin's lengthy opener seem to support his assessment. Prostitution is rampant. Gambling is commonplace. The perps, the assistant warden and his lackey, have begun preparations for their own...
