Lots More To See In The Japanese SNOWPIERCER Trailer Posted: 07 Jan 2014 10:21 PM PST Those of us here at Twitch who have been lucky enough to see Bong Joon-ho's fantastic science fiction thriller Snowpiercer have been incredibly vocal about how much we love it. Hell, it was my favourite film of 2013 bar none. After South Korea, France and Hong Kong, the film is pulling in to Japan next month and brings with it a brand new trailer featuring plenty of new footage not seen anywhere else. Worry not, this new trailer won't spoil the film for anybody who hasn't seen it yet, but does a great job of ramping up the excitement for one of 2014's most anticipated releases. Check it out below!Snowpiercer opens in Japan on 7 February and in the UK and North America on...um...Harvey?Big thanks to... |

Directing Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson (Resolution) have wrapped up photography on their sophomore project, Spring, with a US based shoot following their Italian segment and the conclusion of photography brings with it the announcement of a pair of additions to the cast.Chris Palko - better known as rapper Cage - Jeremy Gardner - writer / director / star of indie zombie hit The Battery - and Vinny Curran (Resolution) have all joined the production for the US leg. How do they fit in? Nobody's saying just yet but hopefully we'll be treated to some more materials from the film soon ...[Full disclosure: I'm credited... |

Review: PLAN MAN Takes A Few Wrong Turns Posted: 07 Jan 2014 11:02 AM PST The 2014 commercial Korean film calendar kicks off with Plan Man, a light and colorful romantic comedy that carries on in a straightforward manner with plenty of humor until a second half that squeezes in some subtle commentary on the regimented lifestyle of working Korean citizens. Jung-seok is a librarian with a case of obsessive compulsive disorder. He gets up at the same time every day and plans the rest of his life down to the minute, to the point where he even catches the same street light just as it turns green on his way to work in the morning. He falls for a convenience store attendant who exhibits similar tendencies but when she professes a desire for someone who can challenge her nervous... |
MUPPETS MOST WANTED Teaser Tweaks Twitter Thing Posted: 07 Jan 2014 10:30 AM PST Lately, studios have been quoting tweets in movie ads, two examples being a recent TV campaign for Grudge Match, which touted positive snippets from moviegoers (and none from critics), and a print ad in the New York Times for Inside Llewyn Davis, which selectively quoted from a tweet by film critic A.O. Scott, to much hand-wringing and consternation. For the authoritative word on tweets in movie ads, however, we turn to the Muppets, whose new movie is heading to theaters in March. A new video, "Across the Internet," relies on the advance enthusiasm of "actual" fans. The video just makes me love the Muppets even more ...... |
Now on DVD: HUNT VS. LAUDA Documents The Rush Of A Racing Rivalry Posted: 07 Jan 2014 09:30 AM PST Ron Howard's Rush piqued my interest in the true story of the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda, Formula 1 race car drivers in the 1970s, so the straightfoward documentary Hunt vs. Lauda fits the bill perfectly. Focusing on the 1976 Grand Prix season, Hunt vs. Lauda is presented in a straightforward style: talking head interviews, news clips, and simple on-screen graphics. Interview subjects are few in number, but well-chosen -- Lauda; Hunt's older sister, Sally Jones; Daniele Audetto and Alastair Caldwell, team managers for Ferrari and McLaren, respectively; journalist Peter Windsor -- and each has vivid memories. This is especially evident in the talks with the team managers, who clearly harbor deep-seated emotions about that season. Director Matthew Whiteman skillfully weaves together the... |
