New Asian GODZILLA Trailer Reveals Gods And Other Monsters! Posted: 28 Apr 2014 08:51 PM PDT The new Asian trailer for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla give us the clearest look yet at old 'Zilla and what should be Rodan. And yet, all folks seem to have picked up on is the possible reveal of another creature from the Share Your Roar featurette. If you look behind Edwards at the :45 mark you will see a pink model of an unknown creature. Have a look at the hooks at the end of its appendages. Look familiar? SciFi Japan did some exhaustive coverage of all the Godzilla merch and this other Kaiju shows up in some of the toy sets. Could this be what we're seeing in this new trailer? I'm not going to post any images here for sake of spoilers. You can hit those links... |
Stanley Film Fest 2014 Wrap Up & Photo Gallery Posted: 28 Apr 2014 06:34 PM PDT The fake blood has all been mopped up and empty whiskey bottles put out on the curb. Yes, the second edition of the Stanley Film Festival has come to its end and the attendees have all gone home from their long weekend of horror-film-summer-camp. The great team behind the fest deserve a huge round of applause for what was both an incredibly enjoyable and extremely well organized four-day fest. Between 20 first-run features, seven revival screenings, three shorts programs, and what seemed like a never ending cavalcade of innovative events, the tiny town of Estes Park, Colorado and its historic Stanley Hotel was filled to the brim with scary fun. If you read our Stanley Film Fest 2014 Preview, then you know Twitch has previously... |
BLUE RUIN: Watch Three Clips From Jeremy Saulnier's Acclaimed Thriller Posted: 28 Apr 2014 01:00 PM PDT With Jeremy Saulnier's hugely - and rightfully - acclaimed thriller Blue Ruin out now on US screens and the UK release impending a trio of clips from the film have arrived online. We've already said a ton about this one so I'll keep it short and sweet and simply say that if you're at all a fan of smart, 70's inspired, character driven thrillers this one is a must see. Check out the clips below.... |
Support ONCE UPON A TIME IN JERUSALEM And Free The FIST OF JESUS! Posted: 28 Apr 2014 12:00 PM PDT The First Of Jesus is coming to smite any infidels who don't support the crowd funding effort of Adrian Cardona and David Munoz' Once Upon A Time In Jerusalem! Yes, the cult smash short film - imagine the bastard child of Life Of Brian and Mad Max fertilized in vitro by a young Alex de la Iglesia and you're in the right area - is making the jump to feature length and they're looking for your help. But, wait! Didn't this campaign already run? Yes it did, over on Kickstarter but for reasons which are both boring and tedious they've bounced it over to IndieGoGo instead, which allows for greater flexibility in payment options and international participation. Would you like Jesus' fish? An early digital, DVD... |
Review: GAME OF THRONES S4E04, OATHKEEPER (Or, Hey There Chilly Men, Nice To See You Again) Posted: 28 Apr 2014 09:30 AM PDT Twitch continues with its ongoing series of recap / reviews of HBO's Game Of Thrones, written from the perspective of someone who has made the deliberate choice not to read the books so he can experience the series cold. Feedback is, of course, always welcome and encouraged but please respect the perspective of the writer and other readers unfamiliar with the source novels and limit discussions to the events that have unfolded on screen thus far and do not roam ahead.... |
Stanley Film Fest 2014 Dispatch: Day 4 Brings A Bloody End Posted: 28 Apr 2014 09:00 AM PDT Day four brings us to the Horror Awards Brunch, Big Wheel Death Race, a hotel history and ghost tour, and screenings of The Sacrament, What We Do In The Shadows, shorts programs, and too much for one person to ever attend. That's my only regret about the festival; that I couldn't get to each and every screening and event. A huge thanks to Twitch and the Stanley Film Festival for having me.... |
Full Trailer For Vietnamese Horror HOLLOW Chills Posted: 28 Apr 2014 08:30 AM PDT It was back in mid-February when we first learned of Ham Tran's upcoming Vietnamese horror film Hollow (Đoạt Hồn) with the release of the film's creepy as hell first teaser. Tran first came to our attention as the editor of martial arts flick The Rebel - he's since directed a popular rom-com himself as well - and initial signs were very much that he had what it took to deliver big screen scares. Those signs are now reinforced with the film's full trailer.A 6 year old girl falls into a river and drowns. One week later, her uncle, a police captain, travels to a remote village to claim her corpse, only to find that the girl is very much alive. He brings her home, but... |
Dafoe, Coppola and Refn to join Campion on Cannes 2014 Jury Posted: 28 Apr 2014 07:30 AM PDT With the festival a little more than two weeks away, Cannes has announced the remaining eight members of the jury. This year's jury president, Jane Campion, will be joined by Carole Bouquet, Sofia Coppola, Leila Hatami, Jeon Do-yeon, Willem Dafoe, Gael García Bernal, Jia Zhangke and Nicolas Winding Refn. This is definitely one of the best and most diverse juries in years. From behind the camera, there's Campion (Portrait of a Lady, The Piano, In the Cut), Coppola (The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring), Winding Refn (Bronson, Drive, Only God Forgives), and Jia (Still Life, A Touch of Sin). That's a pretty eclectic bunch, with a decided auteurist cinema bent, yet with varying styles that should make for some interesting jury debates.García Bernal is... |
