Collect 'Em All! MIAMI CONNECTION Action Figures Will Make You Drool, Plus New Awesome Clips! Posted: 09 Nov 2012 10:39 PM PST As I stated in the title of my review from Fantastic Fest 2012, "Miami Connection is the best Tae Kwon Do rock avengers vs. ninjas and stupid cocaine you've never seen." I heartily stand by that statement, and the folks at Drafthouse Films want to make damn sure that they get that same message across. To that end, the promotional blitzkrieg is on, and they're not sparing anyone.First up was the amazing re-release trailer that debuted just before the film's premiere at Fantastic Fest, which you can find in the links below. Next was the incredibly earnest For Your Consideration reel that Drafthouse Films put together for supporting actor Maurice Smith; video of that is also below. Then there this latest little bit of awesomeness,... |
See The Many Faces Of Denis Lavant In 5 Fresh Clips From HOLY MOTORS Posted: 09 Nov 2012 03:30 PM PST With Leos Carax's mighty return to the cinematic medium continuing its U.S. roll out (today it opens in D.C., Chicago and a slew of other metropolitan areas), we've got six new clips to share with you from the film. Not much to say other than "Wow." Below, Take a peek at the film that made our very own Brian Clark "reflect deeply on modern life, performance, technology, regret, death, love and cinema itself... occasionally all at the same time."Check the official site for current theaters playing Holy Motors. The film continues to roll out in the coming weeks in limited release across the U.S.... |
Tell Mom The Babysitter Makes Movie-Killers Dead in THE SLEEPOVER Posted: 09 Nov 2012 01:42 PM PST Hot off a streak of festival screenings (including Fantastic Fest) that culminated in the winning of Lionsgate and Vimeo's CABIN IN THE WOODS short film competition, Chris Cullari's satirical stab at the residential routines of movie serial killer communities, THE SLEEPOVER, is now available online in all its bloody and funny glory.Conceived as a proof-of-concept for a feature, the five-minute short economically establishes a set of fun ideas that betray a larger scope. I'm particularly reminded of some of the ideas Scott Glosserman ruminated on in Q&As for his terrific Behind the Mask: Rise of Leslie Vernon, when considering where he would take a sequel (I recall his vision at the time was of a '21 Jump Street for Final Girls"), so I'm pretty excited... |
LES MISERABLES Gets New International Trailer! Posted: 09 Nov 2012 01:15 PM PST I continue to be irrationally excited by Tom Hooper's latest film, the Francophilic megamusical Les Misérables. As each trailer hits the web, we're seeing mmore and more the scope of the show, and the quality of the sets and photography. In this latest "international trailer", we get a better look at young Eponine, and hear a bit more from the likes of Russell Crowe. We also get a glimpse at Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter in their roles at the Thénardiers. Les Misérables opens in December, just in time for it to garner a slew of Award nominations come early 2013.... |
New TV Spot For Miike's LESSON OF THE EVIL Posted: 09 Nov 2012 12:00 PM PST Miike Takashi's latest - an adaptation of popular novel Lesson Of The Evil (Akuno Kyoten) - brings the prolific Japanese director back to his bloody roots and with the Japanese release right around the corner a new TV spot has arrived online.Ito Hideaki stars as a popular high school teacher whose polished exterior masks his latent psychopathic tendencies. And when his students start to put the truth together ... well, things get a little nasty. Check the new spot below.... |
Hey! Who Let The Ghost Fly The Plane? Posted: 09 Nov 2012 11:00 AM PST You know what I hate? I hate when a ghost takes over the flight I'm on and crashes the plane into a tsunami. That just sucks. And it is, of course, in upcoming Indonesian horror film Tragedi Penerbangan 574. The only question here is whether the producers have conspired to completely spoil the film between the poster and fifty second teaser, or - dare we hope? - does the story continue underwater? Check the teaser below.... |
Guido van Driel Brings His RESURRECTION OF A BASTARD To The Big Screen Posted: 09 Nov 2012 10:00 AM PST Dutch graphic novelist Guido van Driel is taking the director's reins for The Resurrection Of A Bastard, an adaptation of his own graphic novel Om mekaar in Dokkum. ALL YOU NEED IS KILL Set Photos Show Tom Cruise In Mech Suit Posted: 09 Nov 2012 09:00 AM PST Doug Liman is currently hard at work in his big budget, big screen adaptation of Sakurazaka Hiroshi's scifi novel All You Need Is Kill, with Tom Cruise starring as Lt. Col. Bill Cage - a soldier thrown into a time loop after being killed in a mission battling alien forces. Yes, it's Groundhog's Day with aliens, explosions, guns and mech armor. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders.... |
Second SIGHTSEERS Trailer Watches You Do Number Twos Posted: 09 Nov 2012 08:00 AM PST Ben Wheatley's super dark comedy Sightseers hits UK cinemas November 30th already riding a wave of glowing press from its international festival run. A road romance gone wrong, Sightseers lives in something of a sweet spot between Wheatley's previous two features - Down Terrace and Kill List - as it neatly balances the comedy and more violent elements.Chris (Steve Oram THE MIGHTY BOOSH) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe GARTH MARENGHI'S DARK PLACE) his world and he wants to do it his way - on a journey through the British Isles in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina's led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see - the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and... |
Isaac Florentine and Scott Adkins Reunite For NINJA 2 Posted: 09 Nov 2012 07:00 AM PST Director Isaac Florentine and British action actor Scott Adkins - the dynamic duo of American martial arts film - will once again collaborate on a project together. No, its not the eagerly-awaited Undisputed 4 that action fans have been asking for but rather, its another Nu Image/Millennium Films production, Ninja 2. In the first installment, Adkins starred as Casey Bowman, the American Ninja who must protect the ancient armor of the last Koga Ninja in New York from a high-tech rogue Ninja. Mika Hijii (Aliens vs. Ninja), the co-star playing Namiko will return in the sequel. The good news for fans of this genre is that Kane Kosugi (Blood Heat, War, Coweb, Choy Lee Fut), the son of the legendary 80's Ninja actor Sho Kosugi... |
