| The Weinstein Company To Remake Shaw Brothers Classics Posted: 23 Jul 2013 08:38 PM PDT  In a move that is sure to further antogonise the martial arts fanboys, Film Business Asia has reported that The Weinstein Company is teaming up with Celestial Pictures to remake Shaw Brothers classics Come Drink With Me and The Avenging Eagle. Harvey Weinstein will co-produce the films with David Thwaites, based on scripts by John Fusco, all three of whom are currently working together on the Yuen Woo Ping-directed Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II: Green Destiny. This suggests that the new versions of the King Hu and Sun Chung classics will be straight remakes (rather than reworking the stories in a modern setting, for example), but as yet there seems to be no confirmation of exactly what TWC and Celestial have in mind.Harvey Weinstein has angered... She goes through the motions of trying to work up the resolve to take the plunge into the ocean several meters below. She laughs uncomfortably, a touch of hysteria, has awkward stop-starts that involve jittering hand movements and unflattering body language. Below, her companions have already made the jump and are waiting for her. After the first screening of the film, there was a Q&A with Grassadonia and Piazza. It was almost midnight and the theater was, sadly, pretty empty. Many people left the showing, maybe because they expected a Mafia picture with action and blood. Instead, we all got a quiet gem, about a Sicilian hit man named Salvo, who could have been easily another "man with no name," and his relationship with a blind girl, sister of another mafioso. | Fantasia 2013 Interview: Talking IT'S ME, IT'S ME With Miki Satoshi, Adrift in Montreal Posted: 23 Jul 2013 12:00 PM PDT  Director Miki Satoshi is perpetually seen around the festival wearing a button-down Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses (even at night), and a trucker cap featuring the spartan logo of 'Standard California.' He takes off the latter for an occasional adjustment and you can see his wild, bushy hear retain the exact shape from the mould of that hat, its personality very much defined by its environment. He is quiet and a bit reserved, opting for cranberry juice rather than lager at the pub on the evening prior to the screening of his latest film, It's Me, It's Me, but is quick to laugh and is charmingly accommodating. Directed by Mike Mendez, the horror-comedy -- with the emphasis firmly on comedy -- had its world premiere at SXSW earlier this year. I will admit: I had an adult beverage or two during the movie, and I believe many members of the audience at the midnight screening did, too. Still, it's a fun little b-movie, and a good one to enjoy with friends.
