The 10th Edition of the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival opens its doors tonight for four weeks of celebrating the best new Cinema from around the region. The programme this year is especially strong, with a number of award winning films from Cannes, Venice and Toronto jostling for position with genre favourites, revelatory documentaries and there's even a retrospective programme of Satyajit Ray classics to enjoy on the big screen. A First Look Behind The Scenes Of SS Rajamouli's EEGA Follow-Up, BAHUBAALI

Last year's top Telugu film, Eega, has been tearing up the festival circuit over the last few months, and it's creator, director SS Rajamouli, has finally released the first tiny bit of footage from his follow up feature, Bahubali. The new project, starring Telugu idol Prabhas, began shooting on July 6th, one year to the day after Eega hit cinema screens worldwide, and is currently deep in production. With an incredibly ambitious filmmaker like Rajamouli, one can only imagine where he'll go with this new feature, and the 2015 projected release date gives me the impression that they've penciled in a lot of post-production time, which actually bodes well for the film with this team involved.Not a whole lot is known about the film, however,...

While rumors on casting have been flying this way and that, it's still proved to be a lot of hot air in the end. Today, however, sheds some light on why things have been especially quiet over at the House of Mouse/Lucas.Michael Arndt, who was originally hired as screenwriter for Episode VII, is no longer attached to the project according to a press releases that appeared on StarWars.com. When Adrian Bogliano's Here Comes The Devil screened at Fantastic Fest it pulled off a feat that I do not believe any other film screened at the largest genre fest in America has ever done, sweeping every award in its category. To say the film has been well received is an understatement and with Magnolia Pictures bringing the film to VOD on December 13th the time is coming when everyone can see why. Joe Johnstone's first solo outing for the Captain left me a little cold; the period detail was great, the rest not so much. The Avengers Assemble saw Chris Evan's Steve Rogers become a little more likeable as the butt of the cooler Avengers' jokes. This... well he's still the straight guy to Black Widow's more droll antics. Whatever your views on this strand of the Marvel universe this looks reassuringly portentous, with a healthy dose of geek-friendly banter. Plus, I'd watch Robert Redford in anything.
